Paddle Paddle, redesigned — and now on Android

Paddle Paddle has been rebuilt from the ground up. Every screen of the iPhone and Apple Watch apps is new, designed around one idea: when you’re on the water with wet hands and the sun in your eyes, the numbers you need should be impossible to miss. And for the first time, Paddle Paddle is also available on Android.
A Paddle screen made for the water
Before you push off, Paddle Paddle now shows whether GPS is ready and how accurate it is, and whether your heart-rate strap is connected. Pick your boat — kayak, canoe or paddle board — set your voice cues, and tap Start.
While you paddle, the essentials sit in one clear panel: total and moving time, your speed with 1-minute and total averages, distance, stroke rate, stroke force and heart rate. Set a target anywhere on the map to see how far it is, or follow the route of an earlier session.
Pausing is now a slide, not a tap — so a splash or a wet finger can’t stop your session by accident.
High visibility for bright days
Sunlight on the water can make any screen hard to read. Turn on High visibility in Settings and the app switches to opaque panels and much larger numbers, and can keep the screen at full brightness while you record.
A new History
History now shows the month at a glance — distance, time, number of sessions and how it compares with last month. Search your notes, filter by kayak, canoe or paddle board, or switch to the map to see everywhere you’ve paddled, with each session pinned by boat.
Open a session to see its track coloured by speed, with start, pause and finish markers; distance, moving and total time, average and maximum speed, stroke rate, heart rate, calories and the weather; and charts of speed, stroke rate and heart rate over time.
Apple Watch, start to finish
The watch app has been redesigned too. Start a session from your wrist, choose your boat, and swipe between your live numbers — time, distance, speed, strokes per minute and heart rate — and the controls: Pause, End and Water Lock. Sessions sync to your iPhone afterwards.
Now on Android
Paddle Paddle is now available for Android phones on Google Play, with the same focus on clear numbers and reliable tracking on the water.
